Natural polymers that are environmentally friendly and nontoxic, polysaccharides have huge potential for applications in many fields, specially medicine and food, but pure polysaccharides sometimes suffer from poor mechanical properties, so researchers are developing composites for a range of applications. Some of those researchers from around the world describe their efforts and results. Among their topics are polysaccharide composites as a wound-healing sponge, polysaccharide membranes for drug delivery systems in skin lesions, nanocellulose-improved food packaging, and starch-based composites and their applications.
