•An important resource highlighting key Anglican thinkers from across the world.•Contributions from a broad range of leading names, including Esther Mombo and Michael Jaggesar•Co-edited by Stephen Burns, and James Tengatenga, a high profile figure in the Anglican Communion and former chair of the Anglican Consultative Council. It is now widely acknowledged that Anglicanism, far from being centred on western contexts is a worldwide phenomenon, with some of its liveliest corners located in the global south. Yet the Anglican theology which is taught in institutions is still focused overwhelmingly on a handful of British and North American voices. By exploring the work of twenty tricontinential and marginalized Anglican theologians, this book begins to correct widespread bias in Anglican theology towards Britain and North Atlantic contexts. The chapters it gathers consider the methods, concerns and contributions to Anglican thought from tricontinental, Pasifika, and eastern European theologians, amongst minoritized African and Asian migrants to North Atlantic countries. Chapters include Esther Mombo on Jenny Te Paa, Michael Jaggasar on Mukti Barton, and George Sumner on Miroslav Volf.

Recenzijas

"This book is a godsend for students and teachers of global Anglican theology, winsomely introducing readers to the contexts, personalities, and theological perspectives of eighteen Anglican theologians. Every chapter is written by an expert on the theologian's work and most are written by scholars who know the theologians personally, which enhances the book's accessibility." -- Gary Dorrien In this wide-ranging and ground-breaking collection, the editors have brought together a diverse set of authors to discuss theologians from across the Anglican Communion. What is offered is a variety of contextual voices, some of whom are virtually unknown outside their own countries, that challenge the dominant Anglo-American historical paradigm of most earlier discussions of Anglican Theology. Taken together, the voices represented invite further reflection on what constitutes Anglican Theology and how it might be reshaped through encounter with different contexts and ways of thinking. -- Mark Chapman
