Best known for his use of the "layered topographic megaform," Erickson (1924-2009) is particularly admired for his work on Robson Square in Vancouver, the Simon Fraser University Master Plan, and the Lethbridge University Complex. The volume begins with two introductory essays, "Modern Architecture and Nature in the Early Houses of Arthur Erickson" by Michelangelo Sabatino, and "Layers of Meaning" by Linda Fraser and Geoffrey Simmons. The second half of the work presents 14 drawings from the Canadian Architectural Archives that were produced by Erickson and collaborators from 1948 to 1974. This publication is produced to accompany an exhibit of his work ran from October 18th through January 4th, 2013 at the University of Calgary.
