The aim of this text is to instruct the reader in the appearance of the gastrointestinal organs in health and disease and thereby teach the clinician how to interpret images that the endoscope produces. It covers the normal appearance of the GI tract, normal variants and diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, biliary tree, pancreas, ampulla of vater, colon and rectum. This edition strengthens the coverage of AIDS-related diseases and early diagnosis of tumours of the esophagus, stomach and colon. Some of the text has also been revised in line with current diagnostic and therapeutic practice.
