Autonomous vehicles are the future of the automobile industry. Automated driving (AD), also called self-driving, raises however several multiple questions, among them those of user safety and acceptation. In addition, the use of VR for all the vehicle interiors will progressively be proposed for entertainment, online business activities and for modified visual motion perception to alleviate car sickness, a form of motion sickness. Indeed, car sickness is already well known for many passengers, especially when reading or operating smartphones or other display devices. It is called to increase significantly with the introduction of autonomous vehicles where all users will be for long periods in various sitting positions. These two new trends, AD and VR, are already modifying our relationship with the world and the society. All together, they will change our way of life forever.

Andras Kemeny was Expert Leader, Immersive Simulation and VR for Renault and Director of LIV, a joint Renault - Arts et Métiers Institute of Technology laboratory until 2022, formerly Professor at Arts et Métiers Institute of Technology. He has worked in several other academic positions, including a position as Associate Research Director at CNRS and College de France and have authored more than 250 scientific papers, books, and industrial patents. His research interests include virtual reality, multimodal perception, autonomous and connected vehicles and driving simulation. He is the inventor of SCANeR, a worldwide leading driving simulation software product. He is President of Driving Simulation Association since 2015, Chairman of the DSC Europe Scientific Committee since 1995, and Editor in chief or Guest Editor for scientific journals. He is also member of the Board of Directors of ASAM, a German standardization organization for automobile development and testing.
