Rosy Carrick is a writer, performer, translator and stage compere. She gives talks, lectures and performances of her work at events and festivals around the world, and is currently working on Passionate Machine, a new theatre show about time travel.

For seven years (until Dec 2015), Rosy ran and compered Brighton's Hammer & Tongue events, and has been co-host of the Latitude festival poetry stage (now The Speakeasy) since 2010. She also regularly hosts other UK festival poetry stages including Glastonbury, Shambala and Festival No. 6, and is co-curator, alongside Luke Wright, of the Port Eliot festival poetry stage.

Rosy is a leading world expert on the Russian revolutionary poet Vladimir Mayakovsky. In 2016 she completed a PhD on Mayakovsky's poetry at Sussex University, and has released two books of his work in translation: Volodya (Enitharmon, 2015) and Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (Smokestack, 2017). Her politically contemporary translation of Mayakovsky's 1918 play Mystery-Bouffe was performed as an immersive site-specific production across all five levels of Waterstones Piccadilly to commemmorate the centenary of the Russian revolution.

Born in the north-west of England, she currently lives in Brighton with her daughter Olive. Chokey is her first full poetry collection.
