Members of the Earth Protection Force circle the planet's atmosphere, neutralising threats before they come close enough to cause harm. Most days the threats come in the form of asteroids or meteorites, inanimate bodies set on a trajectory thousands of years ago but not today.

Instead, a great crystal sent by a faraway alien intelligence has been intercepted. It carries a simple message: The Devourer approaches. The Devourer consumes planets, gorging itself on their inhabitants and plundering the land, only stopping once nothing living remains.

Soon, the first Devourer ship enters the solar system and Earth's fate is sealed.

JD Morvan is a French comic book author. He has published more than 230 comics to date and been honoured a number of times at the world famous Angoulźme International Comics Festival and by the Prix Saint-Michel.

Weilin Yang is an artist from Taipei, Taiwan. She has received numerous awards for her experimental and conceptual fibre installations in Taiwan, and her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions within Taiwan and internationally. Weilin Yang currently teaches in the Department of Material Arts and Design at Tainan National University of the Arts.

Cixin Liu is China's #1 SF writer and author of The Three-Body Problem the first ever translated novel to win a Hugo Award. Prior to becoming a writer, Liu worked as an engineer in a power plant in Yangquan.
