This second of two volumes documenting the April 2017 biennial colloquium on Latin linguistics, held in Munich, presents 25 papers looking at clauses from the perspectives of constructions and semantics, and at discourse from the perspectives of tense and politeness and identity. Among the topics are whether potest plus passive infinities comprise an auxiliary or impersonal verb, the use of the ablative of the gerund and the nominative of the present participle in Latin technical literature, the diffraction of iam: contextual effects in interpretation, engaging the audience: an intersubjectivity approach to the historic present tense in Latin, and how to assess politeness in response to impoliteness: some examples from Latin comedy. These volumes assemble contributions presented at the XIX International Colloquium on Latin Linguistics in Munich (2017). They embrace essential topics of Latin linguistics with different theoretical and methodological approaches: The volumes contain chapters on Latin lexicography, etymology, morphology, phonology, Greek-Latin language contact, Latin syntax, semantics, and discourse-pragmatics.
