Based on Dr Espie's 40+ years of clinical and research experience, this expert manual for clinicians and healthcare professionals shows how best to assess insomnia and deliver effective treatment in everyday practice using cognitive and behavioural therapeutics (CBTx). The book provides in-depth background on the importance of sleep, the interactions between sleep and health, what insomnia is, and its negative impact on patients. Using detailed examples, metaphors and practical guidance, it provides clear instructions on the evaluation of sleep complaints, and on the why and how of selecting a specific CBTx to suit the presenting patient. Delving beyond treating patients at the individual level, the book also considers how to develop an effective and efficient insomnia service at population scale.

A comprehensive guide to assessing and treating insomnia using evidence-based cognitive and behavioural therapeutics (CBTx). With detailed instructions on treatment formulation and delivery, alongside practical examples, the book equips clinicians to select the most appropriate CBTx for each patient and implement treatment in everyday practice.

Recenzijas

'A comprehensive, yet practical treatment manual that covers the basics of sleep and insomnia, key assessment tools to evaluate the sleep complaint, and all therapeutic components of cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia. This evidence-based manual provides a step-by-step guide to the assessment and treatment of insomnia using CBTi, the first-line treatment for insomnia recommended in practice guidelines endorsed by professional sleep and medical societies. This textbook will become a classic reference for both experienced clinicians as well as trainees learning the essential principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy for the clinical management of insomnia.'
