This book provides a unique insight into the practice of computer-aided design. The editor, Winifred Aldrich believes that many people, working in the clothing/textile industry and in colleges and universities have remarkable experience and knowledge that could be valuable to students and to companies interested in CAD technology. The contributors were selected for their special, individual expertise so that a wide range of CAD applications is covered. Most are `pathfinders' in their particular field; all are aware of the pitfalls as well as the promise. Many aspects of CAD are discussed, from the writing of software and the sale of systems to its use in some of its many applications in clothing and textiles. Training and education is covered and some independent views from an observer of the practice of CAD is included. It is expected that the forthright views and ideas expressed by these contributors will stimulate discussion across all areas of industry and education.
