In a text moving beyond an exclusively Anglocentric perspective on culture and cultural tourism, and linking cultural heritage and identity, Raj (Leeds Metropolitan U., UK), Griffin (Dublin Institute of Technology), and Morpeth (Leeds) introduce conceptual, theoretical, policy, marketing, and management dimensions examined by international contributors. From Australia to the UK, 11 case studies provide overviews of critical discourse and empirical research in the field in diverse cultural contexts. In some cases, host communities reenact cultural events or national fictions for tourists; in others, cultural tourism is a by-product of locals' daily lives. Eco-cultural tourism is also discussed. Includes b&w photographs, maps, data, models, and discussion questions. Distributed in the U.S. by Stylus Publishing. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
