Have you ever been on a Playbus? ; Not an ordinary bus taking you on a journey, exciting though this is, but a bus stuffed full of toys and imagination! ; When Sues two children were young, they attended a playgroup on such a bus and as a young mum and volunteer she became involved with the project. The bus really got into her blood and became a work of the heart. ; Daisy Daydream was the bus Sue painted for her children and where she became involved. Together with her children, she had a lot of fun. ; Following the publication of her first books about Jay-Jay her daughter suggested they needed a book for their bus, Daisy. ; The story of Daisy Daydream is based on a busy London bus. The number plates on the story buses are real and Daisy's number plate is JJD 261, which was indeed a London Bus. ; After Daisy's story book was published Sue felt Daisy needed her own book of rhymes too. ; One of the carnival parade themes was 'Nursery Rhymes', this was perfect for Daisy so she decided to take some traditional and new rhymes and add a bus twist. ; She added bus tickets with few bus jokes to make you giggle, or groan.

Reviewed By Jamie Michele for Readers Favourite ;What bus crossed the ocean? Columbus! Daisy Daydream Bus Rhymes and Jokes by Sue Wickstead is a fun children's book that is loaded with lyrical stories, reinvigorated nursery rhymes, and playful jokes sure to entertain. In the spirit of Wickstead's bus theme, old favourite rhymes such as Little Bo Peep and Jack and Jill are written with new verses, and original songs and poems, such as Jay-Jay the Supersonic Bus, are introduced. Peppered throughout are bus jokes that one can be certain readers will share with friends and family over and over again. At the end of the book, Wickstead shares the inspiration for the collection -- The real Daisy Daydream Bus, which was refashioned in 1987 to display nursery rhyme characters, with accompanying photographs of The Supersonic Bus to drive the story home. (Bad pun regretfully intended.) ;Daisy Daydream Bus Rhymes and Jokes is set in the UK and the buses represented are the glorious classic double-deckers that the British Isles are renowned for. The illustrations are truly extraordinary and really bring the text to life. Illustrator 'Artful Doodlers' depicts each scene with bold, colourful, and wonderfully realistic portrayals to accompany the rhymes and stories. Page 23 in particular, which shows readers different bus colours, is delivered in brilliantly vivid detail, and the landscape, children, and costumes drawn for A Playbus Journey are extraordinary, enhancing this cute lyrical story Sue Wickstead has written on how to pass time on a road trip. Highly recommended for young children and the young at heart.

Sue Wickstead is a teacher and an author and has written children's picture books with a bus theme. Sue's stories are about a playbus. Have you ever been on a Playbus? When Sue's two children were young, they attended a playgroup on a bus, but not an ordinary bus taking you on a journey, exciting though this is, but a Playbus stuffed full of toys to capture their imagination! For over 20 years, alongside her teaching career, Sue worked with the charity, The Bewbush Playbus Association, she painted the bus, worked in the groups, helped raise the profile of the project and its work and was part of the committee involved in raising funds to replace it with a newer vehicle. This led her to write a photographic history book about it. Sue remembers that it really was a fun journey to be involved in. The bus really got into her blood and became a work of the heart. Having written the history book Sue soon found that many children had never been on a bus before, let alone a `Playbus' and they wanted to know more. She began telling them stories about the bus and then decided to write a fictional tale. The real number plate for the bus was JJK261 and this gave him Jay-Jay the supersonic Bus his name. `Jay-Jay the Supersonic Bus,' came out in print in 2014. It is the story behind the original project and is his journey from a scrap-yard to being changed into a playbus for children to play in. From Fact to fiction the bus journey continues. This story has now been followed more picture books about buses. Daisy Daydream is the bus Sue painted. `A Spooky Tale' and `The Christmas Play Rehearsal' do indeed have a bus connection as well as links to Sue's teaching journey. Sue undertakes events and author bookings and loves to share her stories, she is also `a patron of reading',
