British artist David Remfry RA (b.1942) is perhaps best known for his large-scale watercolours, often of people dancing, as well as his landscapes of New York and his images of residents and friends painted and drawn during his twenty years living and working at the Chelsea Hotel, New York City. Yet this focus underestimates the breadth of Remfry's artistic contribution, as this book, the first in-depth account of his work, makes clear.

With chapters written by leading figures within the art and literary worlds, this insightful publication covers themes such as the influence of dance and fashion and the role of abstraction within Remfrys oeuvre. Featuring over 150 images drawn from across Remfry's varied career, this book will provide an unrivalled account of a truly innovative, original artist.
