The 13 studies emerged from a research project on enhancing economic cooperation between China and the countries of Association of Southeastern Asian Nations (ASEAN). Just as the project was beginning, however, the COVID-19 pandemic engulfed the world, so many of the studies have incorporated lessons from the disease and responses to it into their analysis. The topics include fostering sustainable tourism in ASEAN and China: a case study in the Philippines, achieving Sustainable Development Goals by 2030: reducing the gap in inequality through ASEAN-China trade relations, coordinated regulation on China-ASEAN cross-border electronic commerce, offline and online perils of digital platforms with the development of electronic commerce in Laos, and Vietnam's perspective and policies toward promoting sustainable development of digital platforms.
