This is the Electoral Commission's official report on the 2001 general election in Britain. Opening chapters overview the general election and the commission's agenda for modernizing the system for future elections. Discussion encompasses issues such as voter turnout and the impact of the media, as well as voter attitude surveys. Subsequent chapters provide full results for all 659 parliamentary constituencies, using verified results from the official returns. These are supplemented by tables of summary statistics. The Electoral Commission was established by Act of Parliament in November 2000 as an independent body. This work is distributed by ISBS. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
