In Korea, the technique is used primarily in the operational safety of nuclear power plants, gas pipelines, and petrochemical plants, so when the international workshop rotated there for the first time (13th, Seoul, June 2008), it was held in conjunction with workshops from those industries. The proceedings contain 55 papers on nuclear power plants, corrosion under insulation and layer problems, eddy current testing, modeling, characterizing material, inverse problems and imaging, and applying electromagnetic nondestructive techniques. Among specific topics are a coupled-finite-elements and volume-integral method approach to modeling the inspection of steam generator tubes in the proximity of support plates, the nonlinearized mapping of volumetric defects affecting a metal tube, the standoff detection and imaging of suspicious and concealed objects with electromagnetic waves in the centimeter and millimeter range, the electromagnetic evaluation of soil conditions, and electromagnetic field interaction with an aqueous glucose solution in a dielectric resonator.
