Papers from a July 2008 conference examine advances in the traditional core areas of embedded systems in architecture, software, hardware, real-time computing, and testing and verification, and in additional areas of special emphasis such as pervasive/ubiquitous computing and sensor networks, wireless communications, power-aware computing, security and dependability, and multimedia. Some specific subjects investigated are packet reordering analysis for LEO satellite networks, address register allocation in digital signal processors, data aggregation with multiple spanning trees in wireless sensor networks, and design of fuzzy feed-forward decoupling systems based on FPGA. Other topics examined include object tracking using an improved kernel method, intrusion aware system-in-a-chip design with uncertainty classification, an electronic system level design and performance evaluation for multimedia applications, and a load-balanced routing consideration with a delay-based RREQ scheme in wireless mesh networks.
