Although this two-volume reference to the Enlightenment retains the francocentrism of traditional studies, it also embraces as much of Europe as possible, stressing similarities and differences in various countries as well as the networks that linked people of learning throughout Europe and beyond. Michel Delon is a distinguished specialist of the Enlightenment. He is currently Professor at the University of Paris IV (Sorbonne) and is a regular contributor to the Magazine Littéraire and the RevueEurope. He is the author or editor of numerous titles in French.
