English summary: Ecclesiastical history in the 14th century was determined by transferring the Pope's residence to Avignon and by the Great Western Schism after 1378. Additional challenges confronting the church were the far-reaching social and cultural changes of the time as well as the devastating effects of the plague. Based on historical sources, this textbook and reference guide presents the history of the papal church with special emphasis on the monastic and lay movements of this period. The dispute about poverty, the practice of piety, heresies, and the relationship of Christianity to Judaism and the Islam are also discussed. German description: Die Kirchengeschichte des 14. Jahrhunderts wurde durch die Verlegung der papstlichen Residenz nach Avignon und das Grosse Abendlandische Schisma ab 1378 gepragt. Darueber hinaus stellten gesellschaftliche und kulturelle Veranderungen wie auch die verheerenden Auswirkungen der Pest die Kirche vor grosse Herausforderungen. Die quellenbezogene Darstellung dieses Lehr- und Handbuches erschliesst die Geschichte der Papstkirche unter Beruecksichtigung der Ordens- und Laienbewegungen dieser Zeit.
