Recenzijas

"This is a superb update to what has become an important research text in the field of pastoral care! Mary Moschellas book goes beyond just the mechanics of qualitative research (although the skills are well described) to bring heart and relationality to what, at the end of the day, is a practice of ethical mutual inquiry that deepens honesty in community, both in the classroom and in congregations. Incorporating new methods, and thoughtful new examples, this volume shows how ethnography really is a sacred even potentially transformative practice of pastoral listening and care." -- Pamela Cooper-White "What a rich resource! This book is a solid methodological guide, but a guide utterly attuned to why and how pastoral leaders can and should engage in ethnographic research. This second edition surpasses the first in providing a well-marked roadmap that encompasses the latest congregational examples and the new breadth of digital and visual means at our disposal." -- Nancy T Ammerman "I welcome the publication of the second edition of Ethnography as a Pastoral Practice. It has deservedly become an essential text for all those embarking on qualitative research in practical theology. It takes the reader through the practicalities of an ethnographic project, from conception, design to execution but in the process bears powerful witness to the theological imperative of paying attention to the complexities of congregational life and the human stories they embody. " -- Elaine Graham "In this second addition of Ethnography as Pastoral, Mary Moschella reminds us that pastoral practice, at its core, requires deep listening within community. The very nature of ethnography loosens the practice and theology of pastoral response from the stronghold of clericalism and single authored narratives. Her attention to pedagogy and critical analysis makes ethnography a pastoral practice that emerges from within the community of faith and is potentially liberative beyond it. She has gifted us with a 2nd edition that embodies what ethnography demandstransformative reflection." -- Phillis Isabella Sheppard Ethnography as a Pastoral Practice was a ground breaking book well ahead of its time when first published. This Second Edition takes account of new developments in what has become one of the most fast growing and exciting fields in Practical Theology and it ensures that this volume continues to be essential for anyone working in the area of Theology and Qualitative Research. -- Pete Ward "Ethnography as a Pastoral Practice is not simply a "how-to" book, it is a book of hard-earned wisdom accumulated over years of both research and teaching in ethnography. In other words, Dr. Moschella does what she writes, and we are the beneficiaries. Highly recommended. " -- Todd Whitmore "The revised second edition of Mary Clark Moschellas Ethnography as a Pastoral Practice: An Introduction provides a trustworthy and practical roadmap for those privileged to embark on the ethnographic pastoral journey. The many case studies and practical examples provide invaluable pointers along the way. This is a significant publication in the ever-expanding field of pastoral and empirical theology." -- Jaco S. Dreyer
