Ideal for any learning environment, this is a fantastic resource for teaching children about the Vikings in an interactive and memorable way. * @inclusive_childrens_books * I am a big fan of the Factology series because it presents information in an appealing way with plenty of illustrations, maps, timelines, diagrams and statistics. This book does not disappoint. We enter the world of the Norse people and learn about aspects of their lives including families, longships, farming, clothing, food, religion and much more. We meet the Vikings, and various myths about the Vikings are busted .I particularly enjoyed the invitation to join the clan which involved consideration of Viking society Text is presented in accessible bite-size chunks and attractive artwork and clever design make the pages appealing. I found the section on jewellery especially fascinating, as were the pages on ship burials. There is also information on games, runes, weapons, battle forts, famous Vikings, fact v fiction, mythology, gods and monsters, the afterlife, monster attacks, invasion, Danelaw, stars and consideration of how far their empire spread. The inclusion of a big quiz consolidates learning and we are directed back to the relevant page if need to look anything up. The book ends with a good glossary and index. A comprehensive, attractive and engaging introduction to the Viking world.
