This volume contains 36 peer-reviewed papers from the 3rd International Conference on Global Software Engineering, held in August of 2008. The papers explore issues connected to the work of globally distributed software engineering teams. Following keynotes addressing the coming age of virtual organizations and leveraging global software development for competitiveness, the papers are presented in sections concerned with good practices, communication, processes, models for global software programming, managing complexity in global software development, and reporting experiences in global software development. Two industry track sections, an education track section, and the papers from the doctoral symposium follow.
