After battling her best friend, Darlena’s grip on Red Magic has been shaky, but she’s not willing to admit that to anyone. She heads to Scotland after the Winter Solstice in search of another Red Witch. Despite close encounters with Freya and Pele, Darlena makes it to Scotland unharmed. Although she’s desperate to begin her search for another Red, she doesn’t know where to start. Killing time, Darlena goes sightseeing with a pair of tourists from her hostel. The girls end up in The Vaults, the mysterious underground city beneath Edinburgh, and Darlena’s instincts go haywire. There’s something dangerous in The Vaults, and when Darlena lets loose a defensive burst of Red Magic, the other two girls end up dead. Darlena panics, but she doesn’t get very far before crashing into a tall man named Marcus. She’s found the other Red Witch, but he’s not happy to see her.
