The role of hepatitis B and C in causing hepatocellular carcinoma has been made clear in the last 2030 years by clinical, basic, and epidemiological studies. Recent research has also explored the prevention of hepatocellular carcinoma through the control of chronic hepatitis B or C viral infection.
