This book is a compilation of 16 invited review articles by some of the best-known international scientists in the field of colloidal and interface science. Topics reported include orthokinetic heteroflocculation in papermaking, uptake and release of active species into and from microgel particles, manipulation of DNA by surfactants, particle characterization using electro-acoustic spectroscopy, conditions for the existence of a stable colloidal liquid, and wetting films stabilized by polymeric surfactants. The audience for the book is made up of chemists and material scientists, as well as those working in industries impacted by colloidal science. Platikanov teaches in the Department of Physical Chemistry at the University of Sofia, Bulgaria. Exerowa is professor in the Department of Colloids and Surfaces at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. This beautiful compilation of invited review articles -- authored by well-known scientists -- covers the latest developments and achievements in colloid and interface science, and is dedicated to Professor Tharwat Tadros, an outstanding scientist in the field.
Due to the fact that colloid science involves a great number of disciplines, the papers discuss such hot topics as emulsions, nano-particles, surfactants, micro-emulsions and self-assembly.

Recenzijas

"The book is recommended to every chemist or physicist who works with complex systems in aqueous media. She/he will learn about new aspects of the interactions in the micro and nano 'underwater worlds' and the quantification of experimental observations." (Angewandte Chemie, May 2009)

"Many useful insights can be obtained from the uniformly good quality articles of this compilation." (Journal of the American Chemical Society, April 29, 2009)
