"Hybrid Documentary and Non-Binary Cinema offers an expansive exploration of the contemporary documentary cinema form, aesthetics, and ethics. Beginning with a brief history of early seminal examples of magical realism, and constructed realities in documentary and ethnographic film the book will focus on recent and present-day examples of work that blur the lines between fiction and non-fiction. The book will also take a series of case studies to question the vision and motives of filmmakers working between documentary and fictional film. It will consider the aesthetic and ethical challenges of these works and look toward the future of non-fiction filmmaking after the internet, and in the realm of the metaverse. The book will offer both an entry point todiscover new tendencies and a deeper understanding for those readers who are more familiar with the field. Given its interdisciplinary subject nature, the book will appeal to audiences across a spectrum of interests such as film, fine art, anthropology, documentary, sociology and Drama"--
