I Love to Cook Book, first published in 1962 by Ruth Conrad Bateman, features a delicious assortment of easily prepared recipes, mostly in the 'California-style', and ranging from appetizers, soups and salads, to breakfast and dinner specialties, fish, chicken, and meat, to pasta, vegetables, breads and desserts. This is truly an I Love to Cook Book!
From the Preface: The title of this book expresses my philosophy about cooking and things culinary in general. I love to cookand wish everyone who is at all interested could get the same warm pleasure out of it I do. If you like to cook, you can be a good cook. Though you may not agree, Im sure theres more to it than simply mastering the techniques. Honestly, did you ever know a really fine cook who hated his pots and pans?
This book is a result of an enthusiasm and curiosity that began so long ago I had to stand tip-toe a box to reach the cabinet. I recall it welland the floury biscuits I produced. Although it contains a number of such recipes, this is not a basic cookbook,. It is a collection of unusual and special recipes, somewhat adventuresome, and, in a few cases, completely unorthodox. I have made and loved them, every one. And struggled sincerely to put on paper directions you could follow with success. I hope youll find them exciting and fun to make.
