This thriller unfolds a near-future terrorist plot to exploit an overlooked but very real American vulnerability. The scheme, to torch tinder-dry wildlands, exacerbated by years of global warming, is extremely simple in concept and nearly impossible to stop. Dante Romero, a CIA Agent on assignment in Saudi Arabia, picks up the trail of a terrorist, Omar al-Sulaiman. Omar reports to the charismatic, new leader of a struggling terrorist organization, who will try anything to reassert his group as a merchant of fear to infidels everywhere. When Omar is dispatched to the United States, Romero loses his scent. He returns home to form a task force with the goal of tracking down and stopping Omar before he can carry out his deadly mission.
