The 495 papers of these two phone-book-sized volumes were first presented at the International Conference on Intelligent Computation Technology and Automation, held in Changsha, China in October 2008. The papers, which represent the contributors' current research, are grouped according to often broad session topics that include modeling and simulation, rough set and data mining, fuzzy system and application, circuit design and system, fuzzy automation, and optimization theory and application. A large number of papers are devoted to traffic information, including many on transit systems and on traffic flow. Each paper includes an abstract and list of references and is heavily supported with graphs, diagrams, formulas, and other visual materials. Researchers from 14 countries are the contributors, though the majority are based in China. The volumes are author indexed, but lack a subject index.
