The book begins with an introduction to the concepts associated with the creation of optimization models for production planning. These concepts are then applied to well-known planning models, namely mrp and MRP II. From this foundation fairly sophisticated models for supply chain management are developed. Another unique feature is that models are develop with an eye toward implementation. In fact, there is a chapter that provides explicit examples of implementation of the basic models using a variety of popular, commercially available modeling languages. The new edition is updated and provides extensions.

The book begins with a lucid introduction to elements that underlie optimization models for production planning. These concepts are then applied to well-known planning models, namely mrp and MRP II. From this foundation are developed fairly sophisticated models for supply chain management. Coverage includes explicit examples of implementation of the basic models using a variety of popular, commercially available modeling languages. The new edition is updated and contains new results.

Recenzijas

From the reviews of the second edition:

"This is the second edition of the popular book. The book can be used for developing courses for business, management or industrial engineering students. Some developed models are useful not only for teaching purposes but can be immediately applied by practitioners. This will be of special value to researchers and PhD students." (Vitaly A. Strusevich, Zentralblatt MATH, Vol. 1140, 2008)
