Following up on Part 1 of the present work on isoxazole chemistry, restricted to mononuclear isoxazoles and their hydrogenated counterparts (isoxazolines and isoxazolidines) which appeared in 1991, this volume comprises the second part, devoted to the chemistry of condensed isoxazoles: 1,2- and 2,1-benzisoxazoles and related compounds such as isoxazoles fused with carbocyclic or heterocyclic rings. Each chapter illustrates the syntheses and reactions of these classes of compounds; physical properties are also included whenever they differ notably from those of the corresponding mononuclear isoxazoles already reported. The literature survey mostly ends with Volume 115 of Chemical Abstracts (1991), although a projected Part 3 might supply an update. Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.
This new volume in a highly regarded, established series provides complete coverage of the heterocyclic chemistry of isoxazoles.
