This is a special anniversary issue in celebration of the 50th volume in the Yearbook of Liturgy and Hymnology series. It opens with a review of the history of this series of yearbooks. To celebrate the special occasion, a new facsimile edition of the so-called "Eight-Song Book" of 1524 has also been published. The President of the Council of the Protestant Church of Germany (EKD), Nikolaus Schneider, wrote a Foreword for the volume and praised both the scientific efforts displayed by the Yearbook as well as the work that has been done to make liturgy and hymnology a part of everyday church life.The liturgical contributions concern the future perspectives of liturgy in the Protestant Church of Germany. The volume is rounded off by a historical review of the past few years. The section on hymnology is devoted to questions surrounding music in the Church and other publications in this regard.
Joachim Conrad ist Theologe und Pfarrer. Dr. theol. Inge Mager ist Professorin fĆ"r Kirchen- und Dogmengeschichte an der UniversitƤt Hamburg. Prof. Dr. theol. Wolfgang Herbst ist Kirchenmusikdirektor und war bis 1998 Rektor der Hochschule fĆ"r Kirchenmusik in Heidelberg. Dr. theol. Andreas Marti is Titular Professor of Church Music at the University of Bern, Switzerland. He is also a church musician in Kƶniz near Bern, a representative to the Conference on Liturgy and Church Hymnals of the Reformed Protestant Churches of German-Speaking Switzerland and President of the Liturgy Commission. Also, he teaches liturgy and hymnology at the music departments of the Universities of Bern and Zurich and at the Church Music Academy in Aargau as well as in the French-speaking part of Switzerland at the University of Zurich and at the University of Graz in Austria. He is Editor-in-Chief of the āJahrbuch fĆ"r Liturgik und Hymnologieā and an editor of the journal āMusik und Gottesdienst.ā He often plays the organ in churches in Switzerland and Germany. Dr. phil. Ada Kadelbach war bis zu ihrem Ruhestand 2003 Leiterin des Amtes fĆ"r Kultur der Hansestadt LĆ"beck. Sie ist Hymnologin, Musik- und Literaturwissenschatlerin und war von 1991-1999 VizeprƤsidentin der Internationalen Arbeitsgemeinschaft fĆ"r Hymnologie (IAH). Seit vielen Jahren arbeitet sie in Gesangbuchgremien auf landeskirchlicher und EKD-Ebene mit. Dr. theol. Wolfgang Ratzmann ist Professor em. fĆ"r Praktische Theologie an der Theologischen FakultƤt der UniversitƤt Leipzig und Leiter des Liturgiewissenschaftlichen Instituts der VELKD. Dr. phil. Irmgard Scheitler ist apl. Professorin für Neuere Deutsche Literaturwissenschaft an der Universität Würzburg. Forschungsschwerpunkte: Frühe Neuzeit, 19. Funktion und Ästhetik der Musik im Drama der Frühen Neuzeit Alexander Vƶlker ist Pfarrer und Superintendent i.R., von 1991 bis 2001 war er Vorsitzender der Lutherischen Liturgischen Konferenz Deutschlands, bis 2005 Lehrbeauftragter fĆ"r Liturgik und Hymnologie an der Hochschule fĆ"r Kirchenmusik Herford. Dr. theol. Jörg Neijenhuis ist apl. Professor für Praktische Theologie/Liturgiewissenschaft an der Theologischen Fakultät der Universität Heidelberg. Dr. theol. Michael Meyer-Blanck ist Professor fĆ"r Praktische Theologie und ReligionspƤdagogik an der Evangelisch-theologischen FakultƤt der UniversitƤt Bonn.
