In this volume, the authors detail how to use the student-centered, collaborative learning method of literature circles to get middle and high school students more interested in reading. After explaining the principles and roles of students in literature circles, they outline 15 lesson plans related to specific readings, from works by John Updike and Leo Tolstoy to George Orwell and C.S. Lewis, in addition to related nonfiction readings. Themes for the lesson plans deal with friendship, family, leaders, and technology.
