Tracing the history of the Lunjika Seventh-Day Adventist mission in northern Malawi from its beginning in 1932 to 1995, Banda consider six broad issues. First is the beginning of the Adventist church in Malawi, 1893-1927, mainly in the southern part of the country. Second is the contribution of the national and expatriate missionaries at the mission, and how the personal effort of some of them developed to an admirable level for Adventists not only in Malawi, but also in the entire Southern African Indian-Ocean Division. The other issues are the interaction of gospel and culture, the imposition and breaking of the federation and attaining of independence, the impact of Malawian leadership on the development of the mission, and the role of women in the church and how Lunjika church treats them.
