New to this edition are an expanded metrology section, including v-blocks and micrometer, vernier and dial calipers; a new fluid power section covering pneumatic, hydraulic, and vacuum theory and applications; powder metallurgy, including additive manufacturing; tap drill sizes for Unified threads and reaming allowance for drilling; standard mesh and grit sizes; and assembly with dowel pins. Added to recently added topics are micromachining, expanded material on calculation of hole coordinates, an introduction to metrology, further contributions to the sheet metal and presses section, shaft alignment, taps and tapping, helical coil screw thread inserts, distinguishing between bolts and screws, miniature screws, metric screw threads, calculating thread dimensions, keys and keyways, solid geometry, statistics, and fluid mechanics.
