Scharf presents students, academics, researchers, and professionals working in a variety of crop production and management contexts with a survey of contemporary research into the effective management of nitrogen levels in a variety of farming contexts. The author has organized the make up the main body of his text in two sections devoted to understanding nitrogen and managing nitrogen. Specific subjects covered include, nitrogen at the global scale, nitrogen behavior in soils, the environmental effects of nitrogen, and others.
