Presents a variety of clinical cases as well as text in-keeping with advances in medical practice and technology. This book is aimed at candidates for the Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) and the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR).

Building on the great success of the first edition, Paediatric Radiology for MRCPCH and FRCR retains the popular pre-existing structure of the book, but presents an improved variety of clinical cases as well as updated text in-keeping with advances in medical practice and technology. As before, the book consists of 100 clinical cases, preceded by a section on image interpretation. Each case is presented in exam format, with the answers overleaf, supplemented in every case by salient radiological and clinical summaries of each condition - the "hot lists".Chapters on non-accidental injury and radiation protection have been included as these are highly relevant to paediatric radiology practice. Many of the cases have been replaced with alternatives that are more relevant to the paediatrician or radiologist in-training. There is more emphasis on cross-sectional imaging, as candidates are increasingly encountering these sophisticated imaging tests in postgraduate exams. In particular, the authors have increased the number of cases using Magnetic Resonance Imaging. A large number of the images have been updated with better quality ones, and all the clinical information has been reviewed and updated accordingly.Further improvements for this second edition include the addition of at least one reference per case, improved indexation, and a greater number of annotated diagrams to improve understanding of the more complex images. Paediatric Radiology for MRCPCH and FRCR continues to be a popular exam-oriented text for radiologists and paediatricians alike.

Radiology plays a fundamental role in the diagnosis and management of childhood diseases. This is reflected in both paediatric and radiology post graduate exams, where candidates are expected to have a working knowledge of paediatric pathology, clinical manifestations and appropriate radiological investigations.

  • Contains over 100 clinical cases, presented in exam format, with answers overleaf
  • Includes a wide range of common and rare paediatric conditions with supplementary images to illustrate additional points
  • Uses classic examination images, with salient radiological and clinical summaries of each condition - the "hot lists"
  • Carries specific information for paediatricians and radiologists for each case
  • An introductory chapter on the basic concepts of imaging aims to provide the reader with an approach to radiological imaging and an awareness of the different modalities available, with new sections on non-accidental injury and radiation protection.

Recenzijas

This book is very clearly set out with a useful initial section of interpretation, rules, and tools with each of the 100 or so cases. There are clear answers and a useful list of radiology points and clinical relevant facts to the condition demonstrated the book will be a useful aid to doctors training for their examinations and, indeed, could be a useful text for CPD for Consultants. Review of 1st edn: Postgraduate Medical Journal, June 2002, A C Elias-Jones, Consultant Paediatrician, Leicester General Hospital

For the registrar about to be examined in radiology, I recommend the book as a pre-examination tutorial containing both common and important examination material.

Review of 1st edn: Australasian Radiology, 2002

An excellent selection of both common and rare conditions ... that will spark enthusiasm in those hours leading up to the exams. It has a welcome and chatty style which serves to entice the reader. Review of 1st edn: Radiology Now, 2004

A quick refresher of the classic images of important neonatal and paediatric conditions. The images used are good quality and cover the most important areas of paediatric imaging. It is easy and enjoyable to read and covers a broad range of diseases as well as a few rarer cases. The 'clinical hot list' with every case will be helpful in the months prior to the examination.
