A small Antarctic expedition ends in tragedy after a strong storm. One of the team members has disappeared and another, Robert Doc Wright, a veteran of field work in Antarctica who has the keys to what happened, has lost his speech and some mobility. Back home, the consequences of the accident reach the whole family. His wife Anna, a scientist, faces a new life as a full-time caregiver, while Robert is forced to learn a new way of being in the world.
