The AAP Section on Obesity (SOOb) is comprised of a diverse group of 600 general pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, pediatric surgeons, and allied health professionals who have an interest in the field of pediatric obesity prevention, assessment. and treatment. The SOOb is governed by an Executive Committee of six obesity experts, and its mission is to improve the health and well-being of children and families by reducing the prevalence of childhood obesity and promoting healthy active living. The SOOb supports its members and the Academy by writing policy, generating CME programming, developing networking opportunities, and supporting timely communication. 

Christopher F. Bolling, MD, FAAP, is a pediatrician and partner at Pediatric Associates in Crestview Hills, KY. He is a volunteer associate professor of pediatrics in the Division of General and Community Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
