Described by former player Len Phillips as, "An engaging volume of Portsmouth trivia. The format is ingenious in its simplicity - varied chunks of unconnected information, easy to read and full of interest." The Portsmouth FC Miscellany is packed full of fascinating facts, figures, trivia, tales, stories and anecdotes; from Pompey's most memorable matches and favourite sons; to legends and unsung heroes, this book tells the tales which have shaped the club into the force it is today. The book follows no set order, chronological or otherwise, but has plenty to keep any Pompey fanatic coming back for more.
Roger Holmes was first taken to Fratton Park by his father and two grandfathers at the age of five in 1965 and has hardly missed a home match since. Isle of Wight born and bred, Roger has previously written three books on Portsmouth Football Club and currently writes two weekly features for the local Sports Mail as well as contributing to the Pompey matchday programme. His most recent book Portsmouth Football Club On This Day was published in December 2008.
