The difficulty of social work with at-risk families and children is compounded by views of the profession as agents of the State. In a UK context, Okitikpi (U. of Bedfordshire) and other scholars and practitioners in the field critically reflect on childcare social work in relation to the complex nature of power and the profession's legal aspects. The editor advocates viewing social workers' power positively as support for the marginalized and dispossessed. The volume has not been indexed.
