This book is the result of more than three decades of in-depth research regarding the representation of gays and lesbians in African, Asian and Latin American cinema. The study consists of a contextualisation and analysis of South African Queer features, as well as selected short films and documentaries.
Emeritus Associate Professor Martin Botha published more than 200 articles, reports and papers on the South African media, including six books on South African cinema. He was in charge of an African Cinema Unit at the University of Cape Town from 2009 till 2012. He also taught international film history and theory, world cinema, avant-garde film making, as well as theories of film authorship.
