Spheres of Awareness: Wilberian Integral Approaches to Literature, Philosophy, Psychology, and Art moves toward building a new and more comprehensive theory of literature, philosophy, psychology, and art. The extremely popular work of Ken Wilber unites the best of both western and eastern thought and affirms that the stages of consciousness, more refined than that of the reasoning mind, do exist. These stages culminate in awareness of Spirit, or what Buddhism has called Emptiness. Spheres of Awareness shows us how applying Wilber's theoretical templates can broaden and deepen our approaches to literature, philosophy, psychology, and art.

James Lough directs the writing department at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). His book, Sites of Insight, published by the University Press of Colorado, won the Publications Prize from the Colorado Endowment for the Humanities. He also won the Frank Waters Southwestern Writing Award for short fiction, and he has published more than sixty articles, short stories, and book reviews. Patricia Herron is a philosophy and religious studies professor, a writer, poet, artist, seminar lecturer, and lifelong seeker of Truth that can only be heard within the silence of the soul. This quest is apparent in her works of art and her teaching; "life at all costs" is her scream. She is currently teaching at Chemeketa Community College and writes for the journal, Vision in Action.
