Surfactants in Slurry Stabilisation and Transportation: Preparation and Characterization describes methods for the isolation and characterization of natural surfactants and their potential as slurry stabilizers. It also describes the characterization of physical and chemical properties of coal, fly ash, crude oil, iron ore, limestone, etc. slurries, in relation to their particle distribution. It also includes slurry preparation and characterization by using different rheological parameters and discusses mechanisms of stabilization of different slurries. The book includes a comparative cost analysis and offers rheological modelling and Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of different slurry systems.

  • Describes the characterization of natural and mixed surfactant systems and CMC
  • Describes the stabilization of high concentration slurry such as Coal slurry; Fly Ash slurry; Crude oil emulsion; Iron ore slurry; Limestone slurry, and many more
  • Outlines the rheological behaviour of high concentration slurry
  • Discusses the mechanistic approaches for the interaction of surfactants in slurry
1. Isolation and characterization of natural surfactants
2. Slurry, Its Types, Properties, Characterizations and applications
3. Effect of Natural and mixed surfactant for stabilization of high concentration coal-water slurry
4. Effect of particle size distribution in high concentration coal-water slurry
5. Role of surfactant on rheological behavior of fly ash-water slurry
6. Formulation of high concentration crude oil-water emulsion using surfactant
7. Stabilization and rheological characteristics of high concentration iron ore-water slurry
8. Effects of dispersing agent on stabilization of limestone-water slurry (Miscellaneous slurry)
9. Rheological modelling and CFD modelling in slurry systems
Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, former Head, Dept. of Basic Science & Humanities, Government College of Engineering, Keonjhar, obtained his Ph.D. in Inorganic chemistry in the year 2011. He has published more than sixty research papers and reviews in international journals of repute to his credit. His research interest mainly focuses on bioinorganic chemistry and slurry stabilization. Moreover, Dr. Mohapatra has authored 9 books (one edited book) and 4 book chapters along with an Indian patent. Currently, three students are doing their Ph.D under his supervision. With consistently brilliant academic records, the author has a rich experience over the years in teaching of B.Tech students. Debadutta Das is currently acting as Head, Dept. of chemistry at Sukanti Degree College, Subarnapur, India. He has awarded his Ph.D. degree in Physical Chemistry from Sambalpur University & CSIR-Institute of Mineral and materials technology, Bhubaneswar in 2011. His research interest mainly focuses on surface chemistry, alternative energy and slurry transportation. He has published nearly 25 research articles in various journals of international repute, along with five book chapters and four Patents. Moreover, he has authored one book and edited one book. Currently, he is working on stabilization of Coal-water slurry and Crude oil emulsion. Also three students are doing their Ph.D under his supervision. Dr. Das has rich experience over the years in teaching.
