Talk, thinking and philosophy are crucial elements of the primary curriculum, but how can the busy classroom teacher provide children with the opportunities to develop skills in these areas? This book, aimed at primary trainees, provides a practical and readable guide to these extremely topical issues. It begins by asking why talk, thinking and philosophy should be taught and examines current approaches. It goes on to cover important theories in each area and practical teaching strategies than can be used. The text considers talk, thinking and philosophy in the light of current ideas about teaching and learning and looks at how trainees and teachers can integrate these ideas across the primary curriculum to help children gain confidence and deepen understanding.

Recenzijas

"Anybody interested in child development will find this book both informative and interesting. It contains a good range of theory and research (historic and modern) and is also grounded in practice. A very useful addition to Initial Teacher Training reading lists." Lecturer, University of Cumbria
