This book compiles 20 writing assignments for the composition classroom, from first-year composition to upper-division writing-in-the-disciplines courses. Writing instructors from universities in the US provide assignments like writing and designing informational booklets for international exchange students, blogging, proposal writing in technical communications, place-based research, website building, and analysis of graffiti, financial contracts, a political cartoon or print ad, and Wikipedia. They also include the rationale behind the assignment and supplemental materials like grading rubrics, scaffolding assignments, and tips for avoiding pitfalls.
