This book elaborates on the synthesis of versatile precursors and their applications in organic synthesis through a systematic approach. It shows that understanding the chemical properties of different types of versatile building blocks is essential for the successful execution of organic synthesis. The text also discusses how a particular type of precursor is used in the preparation of different types of simple and complex organic compounds, depending on reaction conditions and other substrates.
Okram Mukherjee Singh obtained his PhD in Organic Chemistry from North-Eastern Hill University, India, in 1997. He became Professor in Organic Chemistry at Manipur University, India, in 2010. His research interests are centred on synthesis of bioactive heterocycles and natural products, and he has published more than 66 journal articles, in addition to four book chapters.Thokchom Prasanta Singh received his PhD in Organic Chemistry from Manipur University, India, in 2015, and conducted his postdoctoral fellowship at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata in 2014-2015. He currently serves as Guest Faculty of Organic Chemistry at Manipur University, and has authored one book chapter and more than 23 journal articles.
