HAKUHO HIRAYAMA, a graduate of Japanese Women's University in Tokyo, has worked in sumi-e since early childhood and has taught the art to the foreign community in Tokyo for over thirty years. Formerly the student of well-known sumi-e artists Taisei Mizukami and Keiho Kusuhara, Mrs. Hirayama conducts regular classes at the Tokyo American Club and has also taught and performed demonstrations of sumi-e techniques in Europe, Southeast Asia, and the United States.
